From Fat to Fit
I’ve been there. I know the roadblocks. I also know the solutions.
I was once obese and had chronic pain. I changed my life through paleo nutrition and strength training. It wasn’t quick. It wasn’t easy. But I believe that what you don’t change you choose. I choose to be a mom who can keep up with her kids and be a role model for health.

More About Teresa
Teresa was a web developer during the Wild West days of the internet. Along with a sedentary lifestyle of 8-10 hours a day at a computer, she loved dough so much she was building a brick oven and baked breads from scratch weekly. That led to obesity and metabolic syndrome.
After two years with the guidance of a personal trainer (Shannon Price in Iowa City), she lost over 80 pounds and gained muscle, as well as a new appreciation for protein.
Over the next 10 years, she changed careers and educated herself on nutrition and exercise. Her own journey unraveling the complex science and politics of the nutrition & fitness arenas has led her to a lifestyle that includes CrossFit, a Carnivore diet, and (probably too much) Caffeine.
Despite experiencing morbid obesity, two emergency c-sections, stage 3 osteoarthritis in both feet, and ACL surgery, Teresa knows we can heal and thrive when we educate ourselves and develop habits that support growth.
The principles that have helped her along the way include:
- Slow and steady wins the race.
- Don’t make perfection an enemy of the good.
- What you don’t change you choose.
- Discipline will take you from what you want now to what you want most.
Teresa gained numerous certifications as she progressed in her training career. She currently maintains certification with the American Council on Exercise (Personal Trainer), Primal Blueprint (Primal Health Coach), and CrossFit, Inc (Level 1 Trainer).
