Family, food, and fun makes for a great Memorial Day weekend, but time to honor our fallen soldiers is what we did at New Moon Fitness on Saturday morning.
Five of us — from 27 years old to 52 years old, men and women — participated in the Memorial Day Murph Challenge, donating to the scholarship fund and pushing ourselves through a work out designed by a Navy Seal who was awarded the Medal of Honor. (More about Murph Here). Our times are posted on the national site along with thousands of others from across the country.
It’s such a privilege and a joy to be able to complete such a challenge, despite the soreness we’ve all experienced since then. Below are some highlights. Thanks to the participants, to the scholarship fund and LT. Michael P. Murphy for such a great challenge, and to all our soldiers who push themselves to their limits day-in day-out. (And thanks to Brenda for the pics.)
Since we’re using heart rate monitoring to individualize training more this summer, we started with the Murph. The oldest participant (um…that’s me) at 52 years old spend 20 minutes redlining her heart rate. THAT’S how good this work out is! Join us next year, won’t you?
